Estradiol is the main estrogen the ovaries make before menopause. Estriol is a weaker estrogen that the body makes in larger amounts during pregnancy, and it is not available as a commercially manufactured product in the United States. Bi-Est combines the two, so a prescription for it is prepared by a compounding pharmacy.
We prepare Bi-Est as an olive oil base topical. It is one of the forms of bioidentical hormone therapy we compound, and it is often prescribed alongside compounded progesterone. What is Bi-Est?
Bi-Est is a compounded combination of two estrogens, estradiol and estriol, in the ratio and strength your prescriber specifies. There is no commercially manufactured Bi-Est product in the United States.
Does your Bi-Est contain estrone?
No. Our Bi-Est contains estradiol and estriol only.
Who decides the ratio and strength?
Your prescriber. The ratio of estradiol to estriol and the strength are written on your prescription, and we prepare exactly what is written. We do not prescribe. If your prescriber changes either one, send us the new prescription and we will prepare it to match.
What form do you prepare Bi-Est in?

Is Bi-Est FDA approved?
No. Because there is no commercially manufactured Bi-Est product, it is prepared by a compounding pharmacy for the patient named on the prescription.
