    WHAT IT IS

    One cream,
    the actives your prescriber chooses.

If you would like to raise it with your prescriber, our guide on how to ask your doctor about compounded medication can help you start that conversation.

Tretinoin is sold commercially in set strengths and bases. A compounded tretinoin cream is prepared for one patient, at the strength and in the base the prescriber writes. It can also combine tretinoin with other actives in a single cream, so a patient is not layering several products.

The combinations prescribers write most often pair tretinoin with niacinamide and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). A prescriber can also add estriol to those creams. If you react to the dyes or fillers in a manufactured product, a hypoallergenic base is available.

Tretinoin is often prescribed alongside other skin preparations, such as compounded hydroquinone cream. Which actives, which strength and how often to use them are decisions for you and your prescriber, and your label carries the directions they set.
