When a prescriber writes progesterone, the usual choice is a commercially manufactured micronized progesterone capsule. That capsule is made with peanut oil. For a woman with a peanut allergy, that one ingredient can raise a real question before she ever fills the prescription.
The good news is that there is another way to have progesterone prepared. Our compounded progesterone capsules contain no peanut oil.
What goes into our capsules instead
We prepare our progesterone capsules with micronized progesterone, the same finely milled progesterone used in the manufactured capsule, in a cellulose base rather than a peanut oil base. Each capsule is made to order at the strength your prescriber writes.
