What is the difference between mebendazole and ivermectin?
Both are FDA-approved antiparasitic medications, but they work differently. Mebendazole targets intestinal worms such as pinworm, whipworm, roundworm, and hookworm by interfering with the parasite's ability to absorb nutrients. Ivermectin is used for infections such as strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis and acts on the parasite's nerve and muscle cells. Our protocol pairs the two because they cover different parasite life stages; your prescriber decides what is appropriate for you.
Do I need a prescription for mebendazole?
Yes. Mebendazole is a prescription medication in the United States. If you do not have a prescriber, our telehealth partner can evaluate you for a $50 prescriber consultation fee and, if appropriate, send the prescription to us.
